Howard and McMillan has in excess of 30 years of experience in the field of real estate and land use matters. We regularly represent buyers, sellers and lenders in all aspects of residential real estate purchases and sales, including:

We further represent purchasers, sellers, and lenders in all aspects of the sale and acquisition of commercial real estate. We typically represent buyers and/or institutional lenders in financing transactions secured by commercial real estate. Our clients have included individuals, partnerships, corporations, not-for-profit organizations and municipalities.

We also represent landlords and tenants in the leasing of retail and office space.

Firm attorneys have represented for-profit and not-for-profit developers of residential and commercial real estate in the development application processes, including assisting with the application materials and appearing before municipal planning and zoning and wetlands commissions. We have also regularly advised and represented land use commissions in various Connecticut municipalities.

We have represented developers of HUD and CHFA-subsidized elderly housing projects, and developers of urban cooperative housing projects from organization and property acquisition through construction and lease-out.

Over the years, we have represented parties in controversies with respect to boundary disputes, title irregularities, easements and other encumbrances, highway lines, and similar issues concerning real estate. Our services have resulted in resolutions either through negotiation and settlement or through litigation. On a number of occasions, Attorney William Howard has been called upon by other attorneys as an expert on real estate matters and to provide expert witness testimony at trial.
