News and Announcements:

David J. Tycz has been selected for inclusion in New England Super Lawyers & Rising Stars 2008-2009, a publication of Law & Politics. The designation also appeared in the February 2009 edition of Connecticut Magazine.

Jane S. McMillan was among the cast of "The Torch-Bearers," a satirical comedy in 3-acts, performed March 19-22, 2009 and presented by Vintage Players, a community theater group Jane founded in 1993. Written in 1922 by George Kelly (uncle of Grace Kelly), the plot revolves around an amateur theater group putting on a benefit performance. The playwright makes fun of the "Little Theatre Movement" and the pretentiousness of those who participate yet also illustrates how much fun the endeavor can be.

William Howard, Jane S. McMillan and Jean Monahan each hosted dinner parties for the Third Annual “Quizine for a Cause,” a fun-filled event to support Gilead Community Services, Inc. The entire office of Howard and McMillan participated in this event, which raised $38,000 for Gilead to provide services to individuals with mental illness throughout Middlesex County.

David J. Tycz recently moderated a conference entitled: 2009 Economy & Finance—“What Lies Ahead” organized by the Middlesex County Chamber of Commerce’s Young Professionals’ Alliance, for which Attorney Tycz serves as Co-Chair.

Howard and McMillan is pleased to report that O’Rourke’s Diner is thriving. After the tragic fire, the effort to fundraise and rebuild this iconic fixture of Middletown was organized by a committee of community leaders and friends of Brian O’Rouke who met for months at the conference room table of Howard and McMillan. Led by the unique dedication of Jane S. McMillan to this effort, the staff at Howard and McMillan is proud to have been part of a cause that exhibited the good will of so many in the greater Middletown community.
